About us

A long story short

During a vacation, a group of us, Dutch students, became captivated by the diversity of wildlife and the unique biomes across the globe. The more we explored, the more questions we had about animals and their habitats, and the more we realized how difficult it was to find a single place online that offered trustworthy, well-organized, and engaging information. Many websites presented facts in a scattered way, leaving us unsure what to believe.

Therefore we decided to create that place ourselves: a platform where anyone, from curious students to passionate nature lovers, could discover and learn about their favorite animals with confidence. This vision grew into our Animal Compendium. As we searched for the perfect name, AnimalAtlas immediately felt right—a name that is memorable and instantly tells you what the platform is about.

With the concept and name in place, we began reaching out to organizations and partners to ensure the information we shared was accurate and reliable. Through collaboration and our own continuous learning, we expanded both our knowledge and the depth of the compendium.

Today, AnimalAtlas reflects our commitment to accuracy and education. We strive to make it a recognized resource for biologists, scientists, and anyone who loves nature and wildlife. Above all, we are dedicated to building a platform where our visitors can explore the natural world with curiosity, confidence, and inspiration and are looking forward to providing you the best information about animals for years to come!

Our goal

We founded AnimalAtlas with the goal of providing detailed, reliable information about animals that is accessible to everyone. Our aim is to create a place where information is not only accurate but also easy to understand and educational for all visitors.

Beyond education, we want to make a direct positive impact on the world. A significant portion of our revenue is donated to various charities dedicated to protecting animals and our planet. We also seek to collaborate closely with national parks and conservation organizations, providing people with the information they need to support these initiatives.

At AnimalAtlas, we are committed to highlighting the effects of climate change and the threats facing many species, and we actively support efforts to address these challenges. Through social media, we strive to engage the younger generation, inspiring them to learn about wildlife and take action to protect our planet and its inhabitants.
